This past Sunday, Denise (my wife) and I got up early, drove to the airport, flew to Nashville, met Emily (the Lillenas Brand Manager), and we all drove to Gatlinburg, TN (and along the way, made a pit stop at the Knoxville airport so we could trade rental cars since our A/C wasn’t working). We got to the hotel at 6:00 p.m., checked in, and immediatly met Mike Speck for a two-hour sound check rehearsal for our Everlasting Praise 4 event scheduled for Monday evening. We hadn’t had a good meal all day so about 9:00 p.m. we decided to just go to the hotel restaurant. When we sat down at the table, Denise and I looked at each other and almost simultaneously said, “Whew…I didn’t know how tired I was.”
Well, it’s now Wednesday morning, and I am sitting at that same restaurant thinking about the past three days, and I find myself saying, “Whew…I didn’t know how tired I was. Physically, emotionally, and spiritually.”
Looking back over my Music in the Mountains experience, I find myself being extremely grateful for the time of spiritual and emotional rest I found this week. We sang a lot, we worshipped a lot, and laughed and talked a lot. And somehow through three days of doing what I love to do, I now realize that God has re-energized my soul. The wonderful people around me have re-energized my spirit. And the entire experience has re-energized my belief that what we all do in music ministry matters.
It’s my prayer that you feel the same. Re-energized to go back and do what we are called to do.
