Album: How Can It Be
Artist: Lauren Daigle
Label: Centricity Music
One of the fastest rising names in Christian music these days is that of Lauren Daigle. Her first single and title cut of her latest release, How Can It Be, has become one of the most favored songs of the Church in the current year.
Lauren’s voice is an open window into the soul of a woman who is completely devoted and surrendered to Jesus. Her gigantic and beautifully weathered vocals reach way beyond the ears and grip the heart! Every song on the album is marked by uncommon vocal artistry wrapped skillfully in pop rock instrumentation with a bit of a southern twist.
This album is a delightful balance of songs of worship and songs of ministry/testimony. In addition to the smash hit title song, How Can It Be, other songs worthy of mention include Trust In You, Power to Redeem, and Come Alive (Dry Bones). I rarely single out a song from an album, but in this instance, I must admit that Salt and Light struck me as a rare treasure.
There is something about the seemingly time-honored and vulnerable quality of Lauren Daigle’s voice that draws one in. She is believable and inspiring! It is no wonder to me the project has received so much acclaim. I am certain that this is one voice that we will be hearing for years to come. I certainly hope so!
