I love 2 Timothy 1:16, “May the Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains.” (HCSB)
In the last letter of Paul’s life on earth, he was paying tribute to someone that “came along side” while Paul was serving Christ as His ambassador. Scholars speculate that Paul greeted the family of Onesiphorus because his friend may have already died.
This obscure greeting gives us reason to think about those who refresh us. You know who they are – they call at the right time to encourage – they stop by just at the right time to help. It sometimes seems like they can read your mind and know exactly what you are going through and are doing all they can to make it go better.
We thank God for those folks.
It is our desire at LifeWay Worship to be one of those “refreshers” for you. We spend our days thinking about you and your work – praying for you church and ministry and the communities where you live and serve.
The word “refresh” in the text actually is a word picture of a “cool breeze” blowing on a hot day. It is my prayer that the resources of LifeWay Worship will be just that for you – a cool breeze on a hot day serving the Lord of the harvest in His field.
You are that and more to us. And we thank God for you.
