Today, we’re pleased to roll out new content to LifewayWorship.com in what we internally refer to as “Release 1.9.”
This release includes 15 brand new offerings, including five great selections for Christmas: “Christmas Candlelight Medley,” a beautiful arrangement of “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen,” and contemporary treatments of “Joy Has Dawned,” “The First Noel” and “Joy to the World!”
Also in this release is the mappable function to classic hymns already online. These titles include some of the most classic, beloved hymns of all time, including “Amazing Grace,” “Fairest Lord Jesus,” and “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee.” Nearly all of the original 975 are now live and mappable.
Non-seasonal offerings from this release include “I Will Glory in My Redeemer” by Steve and Vikki Cook, “Let Your Glory Fall” by David Ruis, “Lion of Judah” by Robin Mark, “Mission’s Flame” by Matt Redman, and “Salvation” by Charlie Hall.
Finally, we’re excited to say that all of our publishing partners have granted downloadable licenses for songs already in the new Baptist Hymnal. So songs like “All Is Well,” “Awesome God,” “We Bring the Sacrifice of Praise” and “We Will Glorify” are now live for the first time and completely mappable!
We are continuing to strive to make LifewayWorship.com the best place to go for your worship resources. Let us know how we’re doing.
Jonathan,
Is it possible for ya’ll to produce powerpoint slides with the printed score available on-screen in addition to the lyrics?
Can you give a list of all the new songs you added? You listed 10 of them, but that leaves 5.
Also, is there a place we can get the most up-to-date listing of all the songs?
Sure thing, Chris.

Hey, Mike. I know it can be confusing, because LifeWay does so many things, but this blog is restricted to LifeWayWorship.com. For assistance with musicals, call our good folks at 800.436.3869.
Thanks,
Jonathan
Thanks for your question, Andy. No, we don’t have any plans to print musical notation in a way that can be projected on to a screen. The issue is three-fold.
First, is the issue of logistics. It is much more difficult to print music than it is to print lyrics. Music is much more graphic intensive. Essentially, you’re taking large image files in a high enough resolution so they can be seen from far away and pasting them into the projection software. Further, a song would require more slides with musical notation. The resulting file would take longer to create, be larger to store, and would require more effort by the one operating the slides during the song.
The second issue has to do with licensing. The standard license for churches to project intellectual property is the CCLI license (http://www.ccli.com if you’re not familiar with the organization). When it comes to electronic projection, however, the license is exclusive to lyrical content. It does not grant a license to project the music.
The third issue has to with the market. I know that some people are very passionate about the issue, but by and large, people are only referring to the lyrics, even if they’ have the music in their hands. For better or worse, our churches are generally not made up of music-reading folks. It may change one day, but at the moment we don’t see a demand for this type of product big enough to justify the resources it would take to overcome the first two barriers.
My suggestion is that, if you really want your church to be a place where people read music (or a place where they can learn to read music), it’s hard to beat the good ol’ pew edition hymnal.
Thanks,
Jonathan
Bonnie,
You got it. See this post for the list you’ve asked for: http://blogs.lifeway.com/blog/worshipproject/2009/11/new-songs-since-launch.html.
