If it’s not changing, it’s already dead.
Life is dynamic.
Anything breathing is changing, second by second. The same is true for churches. If your church is alive, it is changing with every passing day. Leaders have to understand that they are not the curators of a museum; they are the officers of an army on the move. It’s not a matter of whether or not your church is changing – it’s a matter of whether or not leaders are navigating those changes for the furtherance of the Gospel and the edification of the saints.
These are the “Good ‘Ole Days”
We tend to look back on years gone by and remember them in a romanticized way. The truth is, they weren’t as good as we thought they were. We had frustrations and fears, triumphs and failures. But, with the perspective of a few years, we remember the best parts of those years.
What if we had the personal discipline to look at today that way? Today is the best day you will ever have to serve the Lord with your talents and gifts – because today is the only day you do have.
Focus on the Constants
God doesn’t change, nor does His word. Our dependence on Him is constant. The Gospel has never changed and never will. God’s love for people is unchanging.
God’ purpose for the Church remains the same. His call on our lives is sure. His faithfulness to us is unwavering.
In a world that is constantly changing, we set our sights on the One who doesn’t change. We love Him, worship Him, serve Him, and long for Him.
Everything else is just details.
