Moses Has a Little Advice…
I love Psalm 90! Written by Moses, it is perhaps the oldest one in the Psalms. Verse 15 always gets my attention – “Make us rejoice for as many days as You have humbled us, for as many years as we have seen adversity.” (HCSB)
There it is, plain and simple – joy and humility are linked. And, humility and adversity are linked. So, we can assume that joy and adversity are also linked. If you look at in procession it goes like this – adversity produces humility and humility produces joy.
Do you want joy in your life? Then embrace adversity and value it as the instrument God is using to produce the humility where the joy is found.
It’s interesting to note just how accurate verse 15 really was in Moses’ life. How long was he in the wilderness? 40 years. And how long did Moses lead God’s people? 40 years. So when he says, “Make us rejoice for as many days as you have humbled us,” he was giving a personal testimony of what happened in his life.
Whatever you are facing. Whatever is going on in your life, always remember –
It is in the hard part that God pours out grace.
It is when you are weak that you are strong.
It is in adversity that you learn humility and then find His joy and strength to keep on keeping on.
And you will rejoice for as many days as you are humbled.
Thanks Moses. I needed that.
