Join Mike and Brian on this week’s WorshipLife podcast as they answer a frequent question asked from our listeners – Should we have a choir at our church?
WHY WorshipLife Podcast with Mike Harland: From the historic B.B. McKinney Studios in Nashville, TN, Mike and Brian introduce WorshipLife.com’s newest podcast, WorshipLife Podcast w/ Mike Harland! Together, Mike and Brian, recognize the importance of having conversations with churches… getting churches talking about, learning and observing what God is doing throughout the world. Through this podcast, we’ll talk about issues and questions, interact with our listeners, bring encouragement and support and information that will be helpful to Worship Leaders all around the country — all of this to help Worship Leaders live out God’s great commandment, “To love the Lord your God with all your HEART, all your SOUL, and all your MIND.” Matthew 22:37
Good morning brothers,
Thank you so much for this particular podcast. I listened to most of it on my way in to work this morning and will be listening more later today. In our local church of 200 or so, we have struggled to maintain a choir, sometimes no more than 8-12 voices, but our desire is to have a choir on a continual basis every Sunday during our worship gathering. We have had some issues with folks dropping out of choir for varying reasons, and our recruiting efforts to grow our choir has been constant but not very fruitful. If you have any further suggestions for recruiting church members into our worship choir, I’d appreciate it.
Also, any chance in the near future you could put together a podcast for bi-vocational worship ministry leaders? Sometimes it feels like I’m fighting an uphill battle working 40+ hours a week and then trying to stay on top of the worship ministry needs, getting music together, rehearsals, keeping our worship team engaged and committed. Any thoughts y’all might have for a bi-vocational leader to help stay organized, focused, and not get bogged down would be really appreciated.
God bless!
Michael
