Lillenas Publishing Company, the music imprint of Nazarene Publishing House (NPH), will relaunch effective August 1, according to Mark Brown NPH interim chief executive officer. The nearly 100-year-old music company, founded in 1924, had halted the production of new product in late 2014 when the publishing house went through a series of financial setbacks and leadership transitions.
Considerations were given to selling the business, but the publishing board concluded Lillenas needs to be a vital part of the publishing ministry going forward.
Lillenas will premier several new releases in the Fall of 2015. A new leadership team has been put in place led by Mark Parker, long-time NPH director. Parker has asked Dave Clark to provide product development oversight to future Lillenas releases. The future of Lillenas will focus once again on meeting the needs in the ever-changing music culture of the church.
“I like to think of it as if Lillenas was on sabbatical,” said Brown. “After 91 years anyone can use a break. Lillenas has had a chance to review, restructure and recharge its engines and it will be returning to the creation of new product with renewed vigor. Lillenas is a trusted name in the industry and has been for many years. With our new leadership team at the helm, we anticipate great days ahead.”
Lillenas product will continue to be distributed through LifeWay Worship. Call 800.436.3869 to order any music from the church music specialists or visit LifeWay.com/Worship.
