I’m going to go ahead and own it right up front. I’m a huge Toby Mac fan… always have been! Here’s why: I can’t think of another artist in Christian Music who has continued to innovate and reinvent so successfully. Toby’s creative impact upon the world has now spanned nearly 3 decades, and he is still as fresh and relevant to emerging young culture today, as he was when DC Talk arrived on the scene in 1987. He’s a risk taker – one of the marks of a true artist.
Well, he’s done it again. Toby Mac and Forefront Records has recently released This Is Not A Test, another groundbreaking album from a legendary leader in Christian music. The project is filled with plenty of the clever soul-stirring lyric content you’d expect from Toby. In addition, there are incredible musical moments of red-hot EDM, subwoofer-thumping hip-hop, ingenious horn lines, and, of course, definitive rap.
Throughout his career, Toby has been a champion of others. This new album is reflective of his bent toward collaboration. He has included outstanding “cameo” performances by notable artists, including NF, Hollyn, TRU, Capital Kings, Mr. Talkbox, Ryan Stevenson, and the incomparable, DC Talk.
Toby Mac unites generations and cultures like few other artists in any genre of music! He does not water down Truth… he just puts it in your face with boldness and conviction. If you’ve been listening to his albums for decades, or if you’re just discovering his music for the first time, you will not be disappointed by this highly anticipated project.
Keep ‘em comin’, Toby!
